5G Supermarket
5G is the future - and not only in terms of mobile technology. The new mobile communications standard will also transform supermarkets in the coming years - from shopping trolleys to logistics and transport of goods.
In Floridsdorf
an INTERSPAR is acting as a test shop for 5G; here the shopping trolleys are connected to the 5G network. Where the trolleys are in the shop, how long they are in use and when they are expected to reach the checkout - all this information can be registered by a computer here.
"We know how the customer moves through the supermarket. Which places are more frequented? Which products are particularly interesting? But: we don't store any customer data with the shopping trolleys, certainly not personal data," says CEO of SPAR ICS Andreas Kranabitl.
