On April 3rd, we at SPAR ICS had the pleasure of welcoming tech-enthusiastic girls between 10 and 18 years old for IT Girls’ Day under the motto “Become an IT Girl and code your own website!” Together with Hacker School and three of our female software developers, we gave the participants an exciting insight into our working world and the opportunities in IT.
After a brief tour through our media studio and the checkout testing room, we went straight into practice: using HTML and CSS, the girls created their first websites—creative, colorful, and crafted with great enthusiasm.
The feedback from the participants shows just how much curiosity and potential they possess. Many were a bit nervous at first—which is understandable when faced with so much new information. But that uncertainty quickly turned into genuine excitement. Olivia from Salzburg summed it up perfectly: “At first I was a little nervous, but then it was really fun.”
Experiences like these reinforce our goal: to inspire more girls and young women to pursue IT and to show them how creative and versatile this field can be. Diversity is not just a buzzword—it is a real strength in the IT world, and one we actively promote.
