Tally is an inventory robot developed by the US company Simbe.
It is currently in its trial period at two SPAR stores in Vienna and Eisenstadt, where it supports our employees as much as possible. SPAR ICS was responsible for procuring and installing the robot in the stores and ensured seamless integration.
Innovation is the driving force for companies that want to remain competitive in the future.
SPAR ICS is setting a strong example with Tally, our new digital colleague, marking a milestone in European retail.
Tally is an autonomous robot that scans our shelves and reliably informs us about empty spaces. It supports our employees with the demanding and time-consuming task of shelf maintenance. It is not a replacement but a helping hand. This allows our employees to spend more time on what truly matters: personal customer service, whether it is answering questions, giving recommendations, or simply having a friendly conversation.
A common concern is that Tally might disturb the shopping experience. But there is no need to worry. Tally is programmed to operate only during times of low customer traffic. It moves completely independently and follows predefined routes without disrupting the shopping flow.
Tally is currently in a five-month test phase in two selected SPAR stores. During this time, we aim to find out how it can best support our processes and how it is received by our customers.
