With the official handover of the data center space at the A1 Next Generation Datacenter, SPAR ICS has reached an important milestone in the advancement of its IT infrastructure. As part of Project SNOWBALL, all international data centers of the SPAR Austria Group are being consolidated into the highly available, geo-redundantly connected A1 locations in Vienna and Salzburg.
The centralization of our IT infrastructure in Austria strengthens the availability and resilience of all mission-critical applications within the SPAR Austria Group. Going forward, our data will be stored exclusively in state-of-the-art data centers certified to Tier III and EN50600 standards. The sites in Vienna and Salzburg are connected via multiple physically separated 100GB Wave-Link connections – a technical foundation ensuring maximum operational reliability even in the event of disruptions.
“The A1 Datacenters provide us with excellent infrastructure and an unprecedented level of network availability, offering the ideal foundation for future innovations and solutions,” emphasizes Andreas Kranabitl, Managing Director of SPAR ICS.
Together with our long-standing partners A1 and Hewlett Packard Enterprise (HPE), we have built a future-proof IT platform that combines flexibility, scalability, and security. HPE was responsible for the platform architecture, the as-a-service delivery model, and the integration of modern technologies across servers, storage, and network.
With Project SNOWBALL, SPAR ICS has laid the foundation for a powerful, stable, and future-oriented IT infrastructure – a significant step forward in the digital development of the SPAR Austria Group.
